Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

RentShield ("we", "us") is the controller of your personal data, registered in the European Union. You can reach our data protection contact at privacy@rentshield.eu.

2. What we collect

• Account data: email address, name, password (hashed), language preference.
• Rental data: rental company, vehicle, dates, photos, and documents you upload to Capture or Dispute.
• Payment data: handled by our PCI-compliant payment processor — we never store full card numbers.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device, anonymised usage events.

3. Why we use it

• To deliver Trust Scores, Capture, Inspect and Dispute (contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• To detect fraud and keep the service secure (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)).
• To send transactional emails (contract) and, with consent, product updates.
• To comply with tax and accounting law (legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c)).

4. Where it lives

All personal data is stored on servers located in the European Union. Photos and documents are encrypted at rest and in transit. We do not sell your data and do not transfer it outside the EU/EEA without appropriate safeguards.

5. How long we keep it

• Account data: while your account is active, then 30 days after deletion.
• Rental photos and dispute evidence: 12 months by default, extendable on your request.
• Invoices and billing records: 10 years (legal obligation).

6. Your rights

Under GDPR you can request: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Write to privacy@rentshield.eu — we respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

7. Sub-processors

We use a small number of EU-based sub-processors for hosting, email delivery, payments and analytics. A current list is available on request.

8. Changes

We will notify you by email at least 14 days before any material change to this policy.
